2K Blood Angels Vs IG and Ork Allies

Yesterday, Six and I played a 2000 point game pitting my Blood Angels against his IG and Ork 'Britezee Boyz' at Olympic Cards and Comics. The game was intense- probably one of our most intense yet, and A LOT of fun. I felt a bit discouraged by turn five about a couple of poor tactical decisions I made, but, it was a good learning experience.

I played a list utilizing my available models. I wanted to try mech in sixth edition to determine how much vehicles have changed. 

2K Bat-Rep: IG Vs IG

Six and Kingpin faced off their respective IG armies in a 2K point game at Olympic Cards and Comics that I thought was worth sharing. Six took Ork allies, whereas, Kingpin relied on the Viking goodness- the Space Wolves. I really appreciated this bat-rep since I couldn't make game night as I had to work late to cover shift.

6th Edition Game: Blood Angels

Earlier this week I managed to get my second game of 6th edition in, meeting up with my bud Six-Deuce at Olympic Cards and Comics for some dice throw-down.

Wow: Raging Heroes

When Six and I first started amassing our relative armies (he the Death Korp of Kriegs; me the Blood Angels), he treated me to Land Raider doors from Forge World. Later he set aside a FW plasma gun for a Mephiston kit-bash I had in mind.

September Slaughter Teams Tournament 2011

Yesterday, Six-Deucer and I threw our hat in and participated in the 2,000 point teams tournament MC'd by Dante of Warsound, and hosted by Gabi at Olympic Cards and Comics (OCC). We met up at OCC a little after 10:00, as dice were supposed to drop around 11:00 hours.

Tuesday, Six and I were able to get a portion of a game in before Olympic Cards and Comics closed. We played Annihilation, with Dawn of War (surprise!) deployment. I tweaked my list ever so slightly to include a magna-grapple for my Furioso:

So a couple of cool things happened over the last three days: I won a 40K game for the first time, and I was chosen to test Battlefield 3 Alpha and let me tell you even in it's current state BF3 is bad ass.

Tuesday Throwdown 06/28/11

Last week, I met up with friends at Olympic Cards and Comics (OCC) and played my first 40K game in over six months. This week, I applied new elements to my list that I wanted to try. I kept the Vanguard Vets and removed the jump packs from the rest of my assault squads in favor of Rhinos. I wanted to revisit mech (MEQ) in order to compare and contrast with jump pack units. Following is my list:

After an extended hiatus, I managed to set aside the time to meet up with friends and field my 40K forces at Olympic Cards and Comics (OCC)- and let me tell you how I have missed it!

Thursday Throw-Down: 11/11/2010 Pre-Game

With a mere 9 days until the 40K Bits Bash (a "for fun" 2,000 point team tournament that will take place starting at noon at Olympic Cards and Comics), Six-Deucer and I will be meeting up at Olympic Cards and Comics each with a 1,000 point army to play some 40K and practice for the tournament. We'll start tossing dice around 4:30 PST. If you're in the area, or have the time, head on in! Tonight one of our mutual friend, Reknyard (also new to 40K), will be bringing his Space Wolves- it should be a lot of fun!

Conclusion: Thursday Throw-Down 10/28/2010

Last night, Six-Deucer and I met up at Olympic Cards and Comics (OCC) for our usual 40K slug-fest that we have coined, "Thursday Throw-Down". This week was a little different; instead of Six and I facing off, Chappy and Joseph dropped in, and we were able to catch a game with each individual, respectively! I was a little late arriving at OCC, however, when I did show up I was greeted with a  nicely decorated table where all of the terrain was evenly placed. Six and I plan on participating in our first 40K tournament next month, which is a 2K teams' event.

Conclusion: Thursday Throw Down! 10/22/10

When Six-Deucer and I arrived at Olympic Cards and Comics (OCC) for our 1500 point Thursday Throw-Down, we were treated to an unexpected surprise that Chappy had laboriously prepared for the both of us! Using the awesome tables and terrain available at OCC (thanks Gabby!), Chappy had created a table with lots of difficult and dangerous terrain. He had painstakingly populated the table terrain in such a way that neither side held any real advantage over the other.

Thursday Throwdown Conclusion:

Thursday, Six-Deuce and I met up at Olympic Cards and Comics (OCC) in order to cram as many 1200 point 40K games as we could manage in about 8 hours. Since he and I are still relatively green, games can slow to a crawl when there is a question with regards to rules. Six and I both agree that we would rather take our time in order to learn, and retain, the 5th edition rule set for 40K, rather than blowing through situations that would ultimately lead to rule mistakes.
