Blood Angels 1750 List

Mephiston, Lord of the Dance
All of my Blood Angel forces are packed away and awaiting reassignment to their new HQ (in other words, we aren't finished moving). So, in the mean time I have been creating list and list variants with zero ability to play and test them.

Monday Retro: Chaos Champion

Back in the day, I would spend hours in my Local Games Shop (LGS) looking at the plethora of pewter figures available at that time. I always preferred Games Workshop and Citadel figures because the artists and sculptors seemed to capture such emotion and detail in many of their miniatures- often to good effect; their exagerated miniatures commanding a potential customer's attention while eclipsing the competition. At that time Ral Partha had a robust line of pewter figures to rival Citadel, however their heroes and villains conveyed far less hero-ism or villain-ism...

GMM Studios: A Charity Event

Brandon Palmer never ceases to amaze me with his painting and artistic ability. This week he has focused his talents to do something really cool for a brave little dude and his family.

Isaiah is a 3rd grade student at Spring Hill Intermediate School. He has recently returned home after receiving a transplant for his liver, pancreas, and small bowel. This is the second transplant Isaiah and his family have gone through. He received an initial transplant in March of 2007 for just small bowel. This eventually failed and had to be removed in March of 2009. Over the next six to nine months, he will be required to travel back and forth from home to Omaha, NE. This also requires the travel of at least one parent and takes considerable time away from work and home as the family is responsible for 100% of his daily cares.

Brandon has Sisters' army up for sale on Ebay: The Auction. All proceeds go to Isaiah and his family, check it out!

Saturday Fluff I: Codan Preface

My buddy Matt submitted a cool short story fluffing the Penal Legionnaires (mercilessly used by his Krieg's Army), and he gave me permission to post it on my blog. I quickly sketched a rendition of Codan, his story's protagonist. Enjoy!

New Players FAQ Part 2: Warhammer 40K Gaming Supplies

In the the first part of my new player FAQ, I provided a list of tools and supplies you will need to assemble your table-top miniatures. In this second part, I will provide a list of gaming supplies that you  will want, or need, to play a game of 40K. You will be lost without some items such as dice, templates and a tape measure. In fact, just yesterday my buddy and I watched an Imperial Guard (IG) army square off against an army of Tyranids (Nids) at our Local Games Shop (LGS), and neither player had a "flamer" template. Obviously, this increased the amount of time the IG player dedicated to his turns when firing weapons that utilized that template because he had to measure area of effect with his tape measure and meet the scrutiny of his opponent!

Forge World Weathering Powder: Seriously!

Last week I posted a rant in regards to Forge World's weathering pigments. I had ordered both sets for a total of 14 unique powders. When I received my order, I noticed that four of the containers contained less pigment than the other ten. Disgruntled, I emailed Forge World customer service to inquire and complain about the disparity.

Penal Legionnaires: Imperial Guard

My bud decided to sprinkle some penal legionnaires into his army and even whipped up a fluffy back story to top his Kriegs list cake. Since Games Workshop nor Forge World sell a ready-made penal legion kit or box, we have scoured the internet to see how other players have modded their "prisoners turned fodder squads". One combination in particular I like very much:

Troop Transport and Storage Product Comparison

Now that I have all of the components to build an interchangeable 2000 point army, I’m going to need a way to transport it to and from battle. I want a solution that will meet the standards set by most airline companies (45 total inches accounting for the height, width and length of the luggage piece), because one day I would like to attend a BoLScon!

Forge World Weathering Powder. Seriously?

Originally, I had planned to purchase a weathering pigment through Micro-Mark until I found Les' weathering line on Awesomepaintjobs.com. Unfortunately, when I ordered my pigments, Les was in the process of moving his online store and his pigments weren't available. Then I found a great review about Forge World's line of weathering pigments. I wanted to order a couple of resin kits, so I decided to take the plunge and purchase both weathering sets (14 unique pigments, total).

Auction Won: Termies!

I won these three Terminator Space Marines for 12 bucks including shipping- you simply can't beat that! Tuesday my Terminators arrived in the mail well packed and snug in bubble wrap. As you can see, some fellow painted his heart and soul into all three of them using a Blood Angel color scheme.

Rate My Army: Kriegs

My buddy Matt sent me an email asking me to post his current list for reader consideration. Constructive criticism, please.

"hey, is there a good place you could post my army list for critique?  I am curious what people's opinion is.....other than a lack of scoring units.  I feel that I am somewhat compensating for that by not really needing them for anything other than holding objectives, and they can do that last minute via the drills deep strike."

Twin-Linked Assault Cannon...

Pictured above: The Land Raider Crusader upgrade sprue

I plan to field 4-5 Razorback transports in my Blood Angel army and I want the option to equip each of them with twin-linked assault cannons (TL AC). Imagine my chagrin upon learning that the TL ACs are not included in the Razorback kit.

Storm Wardens for Doctors Without Boarders

A number of wargamers and artists have decided to collaborate on a 40K project-give away to raise money for the charity, "Doctors Without Boarders". Each of the participants are building and painting an army to include in the give away, while Biscuit from Minions of the Monster Master is providing artwork. Each of the participants have a link to donate on their relative webpage or blog site. For every contribution made, a person's name is entered into the raffle- grand prize being a Storm Warden's army!

This is a pretty cool idea and I can't wait to see how much money this project earns for DWB! Head on over to MotMM and check it out!

GAMESTORM!

Minions Of The Monster Master Podcast featured a guy from my neck of the woods, Eli  of, "I See Lead People" fame. Eli speaks about Gamestorm 12 and highlights from that convention. Gamestorm is a TWENTY FOUR hour gaming convention- any game you can imagine!

New Players FAQ Part 1

I'm relatively new to this hobby: Rediscovering Warhammer 40K last year, after a twenty year hiatus. I was always drawn to the 40K side of the Warhammer universe due to the Space Marines and their fanatical worship of their ancestral Man-God, The Emperor. These monastic, super-steroid warriors trace their walk across the stars through countless battles and wars with all those who oppose the God Emperor. These warriors are divided into a thousand chapters as diverse as the players who enjoy this hobby.
I have been slowly amassing and building one such chapter, the Blood Angels Space Marines, inspired heavily by a very enthusiastic wargamer that goes by the handle, Jawaballs. Recently, many of my friends have jumped (or fallen) into this hobby as well. So, I wanted to compile a FAQ for my friends and people interested in Warhammer 40K (and table top war gaming in general) that have little to no prior experience with the hobby.
